Champions League: Ronaldo’s late strike sinks Villarreal, Benfica hammer Barca

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a dramatic late goal, as Manchester United came from behind to defeat Villarreal 2-1 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Both sides met in the Europa League final last May with Unai Emery’s men winning via penalties.

It was the LaLiga side who took the lead in Manchester, with Paco Alcacer bundling home a cross.

United levelled through a sublime Alex Telles strike from range, before Ronaldo sent the home supporters into raptures with a late finish.

Elsewhere, Benfica thrashed Barcelona 3-0, Juventus beat Chelsea 1-0 and Bayern Munich humiliated Dynamo Kiev 5-0.

Atalanta defeated Young Boys 1-0, Zenit hammered Malmo 4-0 and Sevilla held Wolfsburg to a 1-1 draw.
