Adamawa Govt Trains, Empowers 105 Unemployed Youths

The Adamawa Government has trained and empowered no fewer than 105 unemployed youths and women on home technology entrepreneurship skills and mindset development.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Yola on Thursday, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri urged the beneficiaries to apply the knowledge acquired in to practice for them to be self reliant and employers of labour.

Fintiri, represented by Dr Ishaya Dabari, the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, said the training was deliberately designed to ensure women and youths are empowered to be on their own.

He charged the beneficiaries to be proactive and have opportunity to display their products at the upcoming Bauchi Trade Fair on Feb. 26.

Mr Iliya James, the Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, said 84 of the beneficiaries were trained on home technology with 21 on leather work.

He explained that the reason for the mindset training was for the beneficiaries to understand that they have vital role to play in driving the socioeconomic development of the state and value themselves.

He called on the beneficiaries to understand that the N30,000 given to each is to support their business apart from the starter park.

He advised them to take advantage of the training to enrich themselves and to employ others.

Mr Rilwan Jibrin, the Area Manager, Industrial Training Fund (ITF), appreciated the governor for taking the beneficiaries out of redundancy.

He advised the beneficiaries to use the money given to them to buy raw materials for their businesses to succeed.

According to him, the federal government will soon commence retraining of the beneficiaries to acquire more skills.

Mrs Binadena Mathias, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the state government for the opportunity and pledged to make judicious use of the skills acquired towards achieving the objectives of the programme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the beneficiaries were trained on shoe making, leather work, room freshener, liquid wash, soap production and other skills. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
