#AFCON23: How Jesus Owono Earns Top Goalkeeper Honours In TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Group Stage

The Technical Select Group (TSG) of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 has crowned Jesus Owono as the standout goalkeeper of the exhilarating group stage.

The 22-year-old Deportivo Alaves goalkeeper, emerged as the Best Goalkeeper of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023 group stage following his excellent performances for his side.

Owono showcased his prowess by playing all three games for Nzalang Nacional, displaying remarkable skill and composure under the goalpost.

The Equatorial Guinea shot-stopper made a series of outstanding saves, notably in the opening game against Nigeria, where his contributions were crucial in keeping his team in contention.

His exceptional performance reached its zenith when he secured his first clean sheet against the host nation, Côte d’Ivoire, contributing significantly to Equatorial Guinea’s impressive 4-0 victory.

Equatorial Guinea, with Owono’s outstanding goalkeeping, now looks forward to the round of 16 clash against Guinea at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.

Owono, having proven himself in the group stage, has a golden opportunity to lead his team to the quarterfinals in the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023.
