Arsenal blocked me from leaving club, I need playing time – Karl Hein

Karl Hein, the third-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal, has claimed that the club stopped him from leaving on loan in January despite interest from other clubs.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper is yet to make a senior appearance for the Gunners in the Premier League this season, with David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale ahead of him in the pecking order.

Hein made his only first-team appearance in a 3-1 defeat to Brighton in the Carabao Cup back in November, a game in which he was heavily criticised.

Hein admitted that playing time is crucial for his development, especially as a young goalkeeper.

He mentioned that there were clubs interested in signing him on loan in the January transfer window, but Arsenal did not give the green light for his departure.

Hein also added that he is happy to help Arsenal in any possible way and is keen to deliver when called upon.

The Estonian international has previously spent six months on loan at Reading and has made four appearances for Arsenal’s U21s this season, conceding nine goals.

“There was some interest [to go on loan in January], but the club didn’t let me this time,” Hein told Estonian outlet Delfi.

“I need playing time as a young goalkeeper, but right now I need to help Arsenal and that is my responsibility and I’m happy to do it.”
