Balogun, Dessers Shine as Rangers Ends Scottish League Cup Drought

Glasgow Rangers emerged victorious in the Scottish League Cup, securing a 1-0 victory against Aberdeen at Hampden Park, this Sunday.

Super Eagles duo, Cyriel Dessers and Leon Balogun, showcased their prowess as integral members of the winning side.

The victory, which saw Rangers lift league cup for the first in 12 years, witnessed a gritty battle on the field.

The Nigerian stars, playing from the start for manager Philippe Clement’s team, exhibited commendable teamwork, contributing to the team’s unbeaten streak of 15 matches.

Despite a final that lacked notable attacking flair, Cyriel Dessers made a notable attempt on goal, forcing the goalkeeper into a save, while Leon Balogun narrowly missed a chance from close range.

The turning point came when Captain Tavernier secured victory with a decisive back-post goal in the 76th minute.

Cyriel Dessers, who joined from Cremonese in the last transfer window, celebrated his first season with Rangers by clinching silverware.

Meanwhile, Leon Balogun, in his third season across two spells with the club, added another trophy to his collection.

With the league cup triumph behind them, Rangers will now shift their focus to Premiership action, gearing up for a clash against St Johnstone on Wednesday.
