Barcelona’s quest to strengthen their squad for European dominance continues as they closely monitor Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi, presently playing for Leicester City as per reports.
The Catalan side aims to fortify their midfield, and are seriously eyeing Ndidi as a potential target.
The 26-year-old midfielder’s contract with Leicester City ends this season, making available as a free agent.
Ndidi became a serious transfer target for Barcelona following his brilliant performances for Enzo Maresca’s side this season.
However, with no new contract in discussions between him and Leicester, the Nigerian’s departure seems from King Power Stadium is imminent.
The impending expiration of Ndidi’s contract has Barcelona poised for a strategic and cost-effective acquisition in the coming summer transfer window.
Barcelona, may have to compete with other European powerhouses like Bayern Munich, Tottenham, and Juventus for the player’s services.
