On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, The Brit Awards released the nomination list for the 2024 edition of the award show. Burna Boy, Rema and Asake made the nominees list for their musical exploits in the music industry in the past year.
Burna Boy and Asake got nominated for ‘International Artist of the Year’ alongside Lana Del Rey, Miley Cirus, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA,Taylor Swift and others.Also, Rema got a nomination in the ‘International Song Of The Year’ for his hit song ‘Calm Down’, with other Africans in the category, South Africa’s Tyla got nominated for her 2023 viral song ‘Water’ and Cameroon’s Libianca earned a nomination also for her hit single ‘People’.
In 2023, Burna Boy and Fireboy DML earned nominations in the Brit Awards. Burna Boy was nominated for ‘Best International Act’ and Fireboy DML’s ‘Peru’ got nominated for ‘International song of the year’.
The 2024 Brit Awards is set to take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the O2 Arena in London. The British singer and songwriter, Raye received the most nominations to her name with seven in total and she became the first singer to receive the most nominations in a year.
The host for the Brit Award ceremony is yet to be announced, However, British stand-up comedian Mo Gilligan has hosted the award show for the past two years in 2022 and 2023.
