Chelsea are set to poach Tottenham’s chief commercial officer Todd Kline, according to widespread reports.

Kline has been placed on gardening leave by Spurs having stepped down from his role and is on his way to Stamford Bridge to link up with Todd Boehly et al.

The American spent three years at Tottenham and was responsible for increasing the north London club’s commercial revenue by more than £30m.

Kline will now join Chelsea in a ‘senior business role’ and it is thought that he will play a part in the Blues’ plans over a potential new stadium when it comes to naming rights.

He previously worked in the NFL and secured a £180m deal for the Miami Dolphins with Hard Rock.

One of Kline’s main aims at Spurs was to secure a naming rights partner for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – although the club are still looking to strike a deal.

But Chelsea also want Kline to explore non-football income, which is believed to be a more consistent income stream after 2030, once a new or developed stadium is likely functional.

Chelsea fans have reacted negatively to the news on social media with @Pinnacle5787 posting on X: ‘We don’t want anything from Tottenham again, they want to pull us down.’

‘Couldn’t secure naming rights with Spurs so he’s evidently more than qualified to come to us,’ @LumpOfCFC added.

Kline is the latest high-profile executive to join Chelsea following the appointments of Chris Jurasek and Casper Stylsvig.
