Declan Rice may be a £100m footballer, but he still knows how to keep grounded – especially when it comes to paying to have his haircut.

The Arsenal midfielder has been one of the stars of the season and pivotal to the Gunners in their three-way tussle with Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League race.

Mikel Arteta’s side also are still hoping to progress to the next stage of the Champions League, and before Tuesday’s game against Porto, Rice joined the broadcast team at CBS Sports pitch side to discuss the game.

However, before talk turned to how Arsenal could overturn the first leg defeat to the Portuguese side, Jamie Carragher used the moment to point out the England man’s fresh trim.

The price of haircuts has been a running theme in the CBS studio, thanks to the extreme lengths and money Micah Richards goes to keep his barnet looking fresh – however, Rice admitted his cut was a lot more modest.

In fact, when host Kate Abdo asked the 25-year-old just how much he paid to get it done, he revealed it was a standard short back and sides from a local barber.

‘I think I paid…like £24 for it, in the shop.’ Rice told the panel.

Then, when Richards jokingly accused the midfielder of lying, Rice hit back by telling the former Man City man ‘I don’t have it done in my house like you!’

Much discussion has been had between the popular CBS panel on Richards’ haircut rituals, with him previously admitting that he gets three trims a week, costing £200 a pop.

The weekly spend amounts to £30,000 a year that the 35-year-old spends making sure his hairline is in pristine condition.

It’s in stark contrast to Rice, who reportedly signed a £250,000-a-week deal when he moved to Arsenal last summer, but still prefers to a trip to the local barbers to sort his hair out.
