Economic hardship: Taraba workers protest, demand government action

The organised labour in Taraba State has demanded swift action from the government to end the economic hardship ravaging Nigerians.

The state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Peter Jediel, spoke on behalf of workers at a protest on Tuesday.

Emphasizing that “enough is enough,” the chairman stressed the peaceful nature of their activism, denouncing any violence or subversion of their cause.

Central to the grievances, according to labour, are the perceived failures in policy formulation and implementation, which they argued have had detrimental effects on workers and the nation as a whole.

They demand the prompt implementation of agreements previously reached with workers.

Protesters warned that failure to meet their demands before March 2 could result in severe economic consequences, saying the ultimatum underscores the seriousness of their resolve and the urgency for government action.

They urged workers to brace themselves for a potential escalation.

The call for preparedness, the labour leaders, said reflects a sentiment of disillusionment with unproductive dialogues and a readiness for more decisive action.
