Fans label Sir Alex Ferguson as the ‘GOAT’ as Manchester United legend is still winning trophies with £500k triumph

Sir Alex Ferguson has been labelled as ‘the GOAT’ after his horse won a £500,000 prize in the Bahrain International Trophy.

The Manchester United legend’s best flat horse, Spirit Dancer, came out victorious against, Israr, trained by John Gosden and Aidan O’Brien’s Point Lonsdale.

Ferguson trained Spirit Dancer at his stud in Hemel Hempstead before being expertly trained by Richard Fahey in Maltby, North Yorkshire.

With the 81-year-old winning 38 trophies in his 26-year reign at Old Trafford, it takes a lot to leave Ferguson stunned when it comes to sporting achievements, but after scooping the half-million prize pot, he was lost for words.

Ferguson was asked where the achievement ranks in his sporting career, where he said: “The best ever! That is the best ever, without doubt.

“That is the best ever. It was fantastic. Against the pedigree of all the other horses, it was fantastic, I can’t believe it.”

He added: “Trainer Richard Fahey said the jockey will decide in the race, he’ll be all right.

“I was terrified seeing all these top horses, Godolphin had five! But that was great. I’m so proud.”

After seeing his horse win the Bahrain International Trophy, football fans were all saying the same thing on social media.

“Serial winner,” wrote one fan.

Another said: “Man is the definition of greatness,” while another described him as “The GOAT manager.”

A fourth supporter wrote: “Still winning even after over 10 years of retirement.”

Meanwhile another added: “Sir Alex Ferguson is still getting them trophies.”

And this fan simply quipped: “Guardiola could never.”
