Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has passionately urged Nigerian youths to seize the opportunity presented by the recently introduced Students Loan Scheme by President Bola Tinubu.

Bello made this call at the official opening and matriculation of the first batch of students at Kogi State University (KSU), Kabba.

This scheme aims to support less privileged students in pursuing tertiary education.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Bello expressed his belief that with the Students Loan Scheme in place, Nigerians now have no excuses for not pursuing university education.

He emphasised the importance of taking advantage of this initiative to broaden educational opportunities.

Reflecting on the state’s progress, Bello acknowledged the challenges he inherited but expressed gratitude for the positive transformation, asserting that the state would be handed over in better condition than when he assumed office.

Highlighting the achievements in education during his tenure, Bello affirmed the state’s standing as the best in the geopolitical zone, attributing this success to the administration’s commitment to making education a priority.

Encouraging inclusive politics over divisive approaches, Bello urged the people to utilise the state’s top-notch health facilities, particularly the Reference Hospital in Okene, rather than seeking medical attention abroad.

Commending the governor’s dedication to education, Mr Wemi Jones, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, lauded Bello for prioritising quality education delivery.

He predicted that history would remember the governor for outstanding contributions to education at all levels.

The Vice-Chancellor of KSU, Kabba, Prof. Kehinde Eniola, hailed the inauguration of the university and matriculation as a manifestation of the governor’s commitment to education.

Eniola outlined the institution’s focus on citizenship and leadership training, emphasising its digital approach to prepare students for the future.

Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, expressed gratitude to Governor Bello for repositioning the traditional stool of Kabba and establishing a university in the region.

The matriculation ceremony welcomed approximately 1200 students, marking the beginning of their academic journey at the newly established Kogi State University, Kabba. www.nannews.ng
