Graham Potter provides worrying update on Armando Broja injury

Graham Potter has admitted that the outlook for the injury Armando Broja picked up in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa ‘doesn’t look positive’.

The young striker received lengthy on-pitch medical treatment before being stretchered off due to a suspected knee injury after colliding with Ezri Konsa during the friendly in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking after the game to the club’s official website, Potter provided a rather worrying update on Broja’s injury, stating that the injury is an ‘awkward one’:

“It was an unfortunate action, I think he got caught up with their player and the ground. It doesn’t look positive at the moment, but it is too early to say. Fingers crossed, but it is an awkward one.”

Potter also took the time to discuss the game itself, stating: “It was a good game, good performance from a young team playing against a really experienced Premier League side. We’ve had a fantastic week [training in Abu Dhabi] actually.

“Good to work with the boys that are here, the lads that have been injured have had a bit more time training and have stepped their rehab up so that’s good, they’re getting closer [to a return]. Yeah, it’s been really positive to work in these conditions and we’re happy with the week.”
