‘He wants to finish at top level’ – Tchouameni on Real Madrid teammate considering retirement

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos could be considering retiring at the end of the season, according to Aurelien Tchouameni.

The veteran German playmaker has been a regular under Carlo Ancelotti this season, accruing one goal and seven assists in 38 games across competitions.

However, with his contract expiring in June, speculation is growing over Kroos’ future.

Tchouameni has further fueled the talk of Kroos’ retirement, suggesting that the former Bayern Munich star wants to finish his illustrious career while still playing at the top level.

While it may be hard to understand, the France international believes Kroos is doing the right thing by considering retirement now rather than trying to continue playing at the lowest level.

Tchouameni told The Bridge podcast (via Madrid Zone): “Toni Kroos is one of the best midfielders to ever play the game. He is playing at an incredible level right now. But you talk to him about retirement and he says maybe he can retire at the end of the season. Why? Because he wants to finish at the top level.”
