'His development has been really good'- Rangers manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst praises Super Eagles midfielder ahead of Premier League move

Aribo, who joined the Scottish side in 2019, shone at times for Rangers last season, playing 57 matches and finishing the season with 19 goal involvements.

Van Bronckhorst praised Aribo as one of his most valued assets but accepts that the player has reached a stage where he has to follow his ambitions.

“Joe is a very important player for us. His development has been really good and that’s what you want as a club, to get talented players, develop them into really good players and eventually the player has their ambitions.” Van Bronckhorst said to Sky Sports.

As per The Athletic, Southampton is interested in signing Aribo and is willing to part with the reported £12m required to secure his signature. A tireless midfielder with elite composure, the Super Eagles midfielder would fit perfectly in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

Should Aribo move to St. Mary’s Stadium, he will join a host of other players of Nigerian descent like Gavin Bazunu, who recently signed from Manchester City and Nathan Tella, the pacey winger who has spent his whole career at Southampton.
