If Nothing Is Wrong With A Christian-Christian Candidacy, What Then Happened To A Muslim-Muslim One?

An Islamic cleric identified as Sheikh Ibrahim Daimagoro has questioned agitators against the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu.

Naija News gathered that Daimagoro, who is an Ilorin-based Islamic cleric made a case for Tinubu when he said if there is nothing wrong with a Christian-Christian ticket, then he doesn’t think they should be a problem with Tinubu picking a Muslim deputy candidate, Kassim Shettima.

According to him, the recent election of two Christians Ademola Adeleke and his deputy, Kola Adewusi, in Osun State is an attestation to the propriety of the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the APC.

The cleric was reported to have risen to the defence of Tinubu’s much agitated Muslim-Muslim ticket in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital at a birthday turned-to prayer session in honour of the former Kwara INEC commissioner, AlhAbdulHameed Sambo and the state governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq and Tinubu.

Danmaigoro, while speaking at the birthday event turned prayer session advanced that the people of Osun State ignored religious sentiments by voting to power the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Christian-Christian ticket in the governorship election.

The Islamic cleric maintained that “If there is nothing wrong in the people of Osun State voting for the PDP’s Christian-Christian ticket, then there is nothing wrong in Nigerians supporting the presidential candidate of the APC and his running mate, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kassim Shettima who are both Muslims.

“What should be paramount in the minds of Nigerians is the election of capable hand as the nation’s next president and Tinubu has all it takes to make Nigeria great again.”

Dignitaries present at the event included the Special Adviser on Strategy to Kwara State governor, Saadu Salahu, a former state lawmaker, Barr. Bamidele Aluko, the chairman of Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr AbdulKadir Sambaki, APC stalwart, Alh Baba Adefalu, Brigadier-General Agbabiaka, and a retired permanent secretary in the state, Alhaja Mopelola AbdulRahman, amongst others.
