IGP presents N34.2m cheques to 33 families of deceased police officers in Kogi

No fewer than 33 families of deceased police officers in Kogi State have received cheques of N34,264,159.03 from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Berthrand Onuoha, represented by Baraymill Samaila Ahmadu, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, made the presentation at the command headquarters in Lokoja on Wednesday.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, in a statement said the cheques were presented to families of deceased officers who died in active service, as well as those who were injured in accidents while carrying out official duties.

The statement added that the gesture was part of the welfare package aimed at improving the well-being of the families of the deceased officers and also supporting officers who are victims of accidents.

“The Nigeria Police recognise the sacrifices made by the officers. The Commissioner is urging the accident victims to take care of themselves and has charged the families of the deceased to use the money to improve their living conditions,” Aya added.
