Rahm had previously declared his commitment to the PGA Tour amid the initial speculation over who would be joining LIV Golf.

However, he is the latest big name to seal a switch and follows stars that include Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson.

The 29-year-old could be set to pocket even more money on top of his new deal as LIV events award around £3.2million to the winner.

Rahm could therefore earn almost a further £45million should he win all 14 events, with his earnings shadowing some of sport’s other stars.

Cristiano Ronaldo

According to Forbes, footballing icon Ronaldo is reported to have earned a whopping £108.5million from mid-2022 to May 2023.

He joined Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr during that time on a contract that is said to be worth around £177million a year, so his earnings look set to increase further.
