Jonjo Shelvey’s first goal for Turkish club Caykur Rizespor was absolutely out of this world.

The former Charlton, Liverpool, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest midfielder scored from inside his own half on Sunday afternoon.

The 31-year-old spotted the goalkeeper off his line and fired in to send the fans wild.

There were shades of David Beckham about the goal and he’s not the only Englishman to do so abroad this season.

Harry Kane also scored from his own half while playing for Bayern Munich in an 8-0 win over Darmstadt in October.

Shelvey joined the Turkish club on loan from Nottingham Forest in the summer after playing just eight games for them last season.

He only signed for Steve Cooper’s side in January from Newcastle and penned a two-and-a-half year deal.

Shelvey, who has won six caps for England, was left out of Forest’s pre-season training camp amid a reported rift with Cooper.

The 31-year-old was then not handed a squad number, signalling a move away from the City Ground was imminent.

He then joined the Turkish club on a season-long loan deal.
