Jurgen Klopp rages at Liverpool star during Arsenal defeat in new footage | Football

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring at the Emirates Stadium but Liverpool were level by the break following Gabriel Magalhaes’ own goal. Gabriel Martinelli then capitalised on a mix-up between Alisson and Virgil van Dijk in the 67th minute to restore Arsenal’s lead before Leandro Trossard sealed the win for Mikel Arteta’s side with a goal in injury time.

Gravenberch, meanwhile, was handed his first start in the Premier League since Boxing Day with Dominik Szoboszlai ruled out of Liverpool’s trip to north London due to injury.

But the Dutch midfielder struggled to make an impact and was substituted after just 58 minutes.

Previously unseen footage from the Hawkeye camera at the Emirates Stadium has now revealed Klopp losing his temper with Gravenberch after Saka had put Arsenal in front in the 14th minute.

During his analysis on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher named Gravenberch as one of the players who found it difficult to cope with Arsenal’s movement.

‘There is no doubt, Jurgen Klopp mentioned it at the end of the game, he spoke about a triangle on this [right] side,’ Carragher said.

‘The two players who came in, Gakpo and Gravenberch, they found it tough, and their pressing just wasn’t at the right time, they were just getting cut open. Getting played around them, little touches and then they [Arsenal] were out.’

Speaking after Liverpool’s defeat, Klopp said: ‘Right from the start it didn’t really look like our day but maybe we could have turned it into our day – second half, the start was really good.

‘Again, it is just proof, evidence, whatever you want, what momentum makes. First half, Arsenal started well, that’s clear.

‘We didn’t play enough football, we needed to get used a little bit to each other, like the right-side triangle – [it was] tricky to find, let me say it like that.’
