Kinsmen cry out as Jos PDP chairman remains in captivity 40 days after abduction

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dung Tari, who was abducted on September 23, 2023, after a party meeting, has spent 40 days in captivity.

Tari was in his car answering a phone call along the Bukuru expressway in Jos when some unidentified men in two Toyota Hilux vehicles blocked him around 1:00 pm and forcefully took him away to an unknown destination.

The state chairman of the party, Chris Hassan, at a press conference expressed concern over the development, accusing the military of being responsible for the abduction.

Tari’s kinsmen also expressed concerns over the fate of the abducted PDP chairman.

The Chairman of Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation, Kuru District of Jos South Local Government Area, Ezekiel Nyaku, condemned the non-release of the PDP chairman.

He lamented, “It is now more than one month and nobody knows his whereabouts. We don’t know whether his abduction was politically motivated or not considering that he was abducted shortly after a party meeting.”

The National President of the Berom Youth Moulders, Solomon Mwantiri, stated that the association was making efforts to locate the abducted party chieftain.

He also called for Tari’s release without further delay.
