Kogi speaker pledges quality representation at NASS

The Speaker of the Kogi House of Assembly, Matthew Kolawale, has pledged quality representation for his people if he resumes in the National Assembly.

Mr Kolawole was on Friday, pronounced the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency by the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.

In a statement on Saturday in Lokoja by his chief press secretary, Olugbemi Femi, the speaker described the court judgment as a “victory for democracy” worthy of celebration.

The appellate court had dismissed the appeal of Segun Olobatoke for lacking in merit and reaffirmed the decision of the Federal High Court, Lokoja, to the effect that his originating summons was defective, void and worthless for failure to comply with the mandatory provisions of Section 97 of the Sheriffs and Civil Process Act.

“The court verdict on the litigation has further strengthened my determination and commitment to continue to provide qualitative representations for the people of my constituency at the national assembly if voted in 2023,” he said.

He added, “Let my co-contestants sheathe their swords and allow the success of the party to remain paramount in their minds as the 2023 general elections draw closer.”

The speaker appreciated the role played by the party under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello.

Mr Kolawole said that there was a need for everyone to work together.

According to him, with Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as pilots, the nation will witness a new lease on life.

He said that the victory at the appellate court was a victory for the people.
