The woes of the impeached chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Ogbeni (Hon) Fouad Oki have been compounded with a life ban handed him by Congress.
In what turned out to be a dramatic escalation of the troubles that had bedevilled Oki since October last year, the former footballer-turned-politician has been ordered to stay away from football matters for life, after he was impeached on Saturday.

This directive is contained in a communique issued after an Extraordinary Emergency Congress of LSFA that took place on Saturday, buttressed with an affirmation by ‘the supreme and legislative body of football in the state.’
In dramatic format, the communique began and ended with words of gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation, the Lagos State government, the sports commission, stakeholders, and the press, while sticking confirmation of Oki’s impeachment and ban in the middle.
While advising the new chairman, Hajj Gaffar Olawale Liameed, to uphold all regulations guiding football and assured him of their total support, the Congress faulted Oki for allegedly seeking redress against LSFA through litigation in a civil court.
It stated in part: “The Congress Members approved the banning of Ogboni Fouad Oki from all football activities for life, for taking football matters to an ordinary court.”
The Congress then charged their new chairman to always protect the interests of football without fear or favour.
