Leicester City boss defends Ndidi’s horror show against Manchester City – Latest Sports News In Nigeria

Leicester City caretaker boss, Dean Smith has defended Wilfred Ndidi following his poor showing at Manchester City on Saturday.

Ndidi played unarguably his worst game for the Foxes since joining the club in 2017, as Leicester City lost 3-1 at Etihad Stadium.

The midfielder gave away a penalty, and was largely at fault for the City’s third goal of the game.

Speaking on LCF TV, Smith said the referee made the decision to penalize Ndidi for the penalty, but believed there was nothing the midfielder could have done about it.

“Yes, it’s unfortunate. I mean, Tim (Castagne) is looking to stop the cross. Jack Grealish lifts it, you know, to stand it up at the far post, and Wilf’s lifted his leg to try and stop it as well.

“And if the ball doesn’t hit his hand, it hits his face. But I would have certainly been claiming that as well if I was their manager.”

Wilfred Ndidi is having a torrid season by his standard, and he hasn’t been the same since his return from a lengthy injury layoff last season.
