French Ligue 1 side, Lille has strong shown interest in striker Chuba Akpom.

Lille is in the market to replace Jonathan David, and the club has set its sights on Akpom, who is currently playing with Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam.

 

Paulo Fonseca, Lille’s Boss, has lamented the lack of offensive efficiency in his side, calling for possible reinforcement when the transfer window reopen in January.

“I think we can see that we need it. I am not satisfied. I’m not happy. We need a player who can help them team, a number 9,” he told Canal Plus.

With uncertainty around Jonathan David, Fonseca played the returning Yusuf Yazici as makeshift striker up front on several occasions.

According to Sources, Lille are now in advanced talks with Ajax for Chuba Akpom who only arrived Netherlands in August 2023.

Lille want the 28-year-old on loan with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

The English born striker was a target for Lille before decided to joined Ajax Amsterdam from Championship club Middlesbrough for €12 million.

Despite Amsterdam’s very poor season, Akpom has been impressive, scoring 9 goals in all competitions.
