New England Revolution sign Santiago Suarez from Sacramento Republic FC

The New England Revolution have signed 17-year-old defender Santiago Suárez from USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC.

The US youth international will spend the 2023 season with Revolution II in Major League Soccer NEXT Pro, before being added to the Revolution’s main roster as a homegrown player for the 2024 season.

“We are excited to welcome Santiago to the New England Revolution as he begins his professional career,” Revolution technical director Curt Onalfo said. “He’s an incredible young talent and we look forward to helping him improve each and every day in our progressive pro player pathway system.”

Suárez began the 2021-22 season with Sacramento’s Under 17 team, before being promoted to their Under 19 side. He made six first-team appearances, logging 335 minutes at the second-division club.

The New England Revolution will need a fresh roster for the new season, after concluding the 2022 MLS campaign in 10th place on the Eastern Conference table and failing to qualify for the playoffs.
