Niger: CP Danmamman solicits understanding, cooperation of army in tackling insecurity

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has sought understanding and cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the police in addressing insecurity in the state.

Danmamman stated this during a courtesy visit to the Brigade Commander, 31 Artillery Brigade, Brig. Gen. H. Bobbo, in his office at HQ 31 Artillery Brigade Minna.

According to him, the situation in Niger State and the neighbouring states warrants the cooperation of both agencies to combat insecurity in the state.

He said, “Even with tactical deployments across the State, the two agencies need to come together for a way forward.”

The CP then thanked the Commander as well as the strategic officers of the formation for the warm reception accorded to him.

Responding, Brig. Gen. H. Bobbo assured the Commissioner of the Brigade’s support and collaboration to change the narratives, noting the cordial relationship he had with the former Commissioner of Police.

The Brigade Commander said, “A robust relationship covers both official and personal engagements.” While he briefed the CP, he outlined the series of working relationships that have existed between the Army and the Police in the State.

“Synergy and cooperation have always been there, but just to sustain it, and intelligence sharing has been wonderful. The Army will continue to support the Police as the lead agency in internal security.”

He also added, “Due to the large nature of the State, the Army has been trying to ensure more coverage in the State, as a result of which 18 Brigade had just been recently established in Tegina for wider coverage and operational spread.”
