Niger Republic’s Issahak Secures Bronze in Taekwondo at African Games

Assoumane Moussa Issahak of Niger Republic had set his sights on claiming gold for his nation at the Poomsea competition during the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.

After securing an exhilarating victory in the quarter-finals, Issahak expressed his determination to push beyond the semi-final bout.

Speaking to Sports 247 in an exclusive interview, Issahak, representing Niger, reflected on his journey to the semi-finals: “I’m from Niger, and I’m happy that I qualified for the semi-finals. Generally, I’m very happy.”

Recalling his past efforts in competitions, Issahak highlighted his commitment and hard work, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the African Games.

He remained optimistic about his chances, stating, “This time, I have improved and, Insha Allah, I will qualify for the final and even go for gold. I will get gold at the African Games, Insha Allah.”

While acknowledging the tough competition ahead, Issahak believed in his abilities and relied on his faith to guide him through the challenges.

He recognized that securing a gold medal for Niger would be a significant accomplishment for himself and his country.

However, despite his determination and efforts, Issahak fell short of his ultimate goal, settling for the bronze medal after being defeated in the semi-final stage.

Nonetheless, his achievement marks a notable milestone for Niger at the 13th African Games.
