Ahead of the 2023 election, former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has left many people bewildered with his latest move, regarding the endorsement of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Naija News reports that Obasanjo who had earlier said he is no more in partisan politics has maintained his preference for the next Nigerian president to come from the South and is believed to have pitched his tent with Obi.

According to DAILY POST, rechargeable lamps with the photo of Peter Obi were distributed to kinsmen of Obasanjo in Ogun State, on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

The solar lamps were given out as souvenirs at Obasanjo’s 2022 Ibogun Olaogun Day celebration, and it is uncertain if the gesture was a confirmation of his endorsement of Obi’s candidacy.

The photos from the event captured Obasanjo holding one of the lamps and it is not confirmed if the lamps were bought and customized by Obasanjo himself or if they were supplied by the Obi’s campaign council.

Endorse The Devil You Know

Meanwhile, former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani has urged the aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors popularly known as the G5 on the presidential candidate to support in 2023.

The Governors who are in London, United Kingdom for a strategic meeting are reportedly set to use the opportunity to agree on a candidate to support for the 2023 presidential election.

Naija News recalls the Governors; Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State) took a stand against supporting the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

They insisted on the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu from office and his replacement with a southerner as the only condition to support Atiku’s 2023 bid.

However, despite several meetings and entreaties on how to resolve the disagreement, Ayu has refused to step down and the Governors have also not changed their position.

Information gathered by Naija News has it that as the Governors hold a strategic meeting in London, they might have totally ruled out any chances of supporting the PDP and Atiku.

Speaking about who the Governors should endorse, Sani without mentioning names told them to choose the Devil they know.

Taking to his Twitter account on Tuesday, he wrote: “G-5 Governors should endorse ‘the Devil’ they know and not…”
