Osimhen Returns To Penalty Duties, Boniface Shines, See How Other Nigerians Performed

Super Eagles Duo Voted For Serie A Player Of The Month

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has returned to penalty duties at Napoli after missing out on at least three since the TikTok scandal.

Recall that on September 24, 2023, Victor Osimhen had the opportunity to score from the penalty spot in Napoli’s 0-0 draw with Bologna but his attempt went off target.

After the draw, Napoli took to their official TikTok page to mock Osimhen prompting the 24-year-old striker to hand off penalty duties.

However, on Sunday, October 8, Victor Osimhen returned to the role as he scored his 6th goal of the season via a spot-kick in Napoli’s 1-3 home defeat to Fiorentina.

While Nigeria’s Victor in Italy scored in a match that ended in a defeat for his team, another Nigeria’s Victor who is based in Germany scored in his team’s win.

Victor Boniface scored a goal in Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-1 victory over FC Cologne on Sunday. That has taken the league goals of the 22-year-old Nigerian striker to seven and two assists in seven league matches.

Another Nigerian, David Okereke, ended his four-game goal drought by scoring a goal as Cremonese defeated Como 3-1 in a Serie B game.

As for Gift Orban, the once vibrant striker has continued to struggle in front goal as he failed to score for Gent against Genk even though he was introduced into the game early after Ismael Kandouss sustained an injury. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

As for Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, they were the star men for Leicester City in the Championship game against Stoke City on Saturday.

Iheanacho scored in the 2-0 win while his countryman, Ndidi provided an assist for Jamie Vardy to score the second goal of the match.
