The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State has resolved to nominate Barrister Ajisafe Kamarudeen as the South West Zonal Chairman of the party.
The Osun PDP arrived at this resolution in a communique released after a stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo on Wednesday.
The meeting, which was attended by the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke and other critical party stakeholders, was conveyed to deliberate on a wide-range of issues.
Part of the resolutions contained in the communique released at the end of the meeting include:
“The meeting deliberated extensively on the filling of the vacant position of the South-West zonal chairmanship of the party occasioned by the unfortunate death of the former chairman, Hon Soji Oluwatukesi Adagunodo.
“As directed by the national leadership of the party and in consultation with leaders of the party in the zone, the meeting nominated Barrister Ajisafe Kamarudeen to fill the vacant position, subject to final ratification by the national office of the party.
“The meeting also deliberated on the composition of the local government caretaker committee members in the State. Stakeholders of the party in all the 332 wards were therefore directed to present a nominee each for consideration for the caretaker committee to be constituted soonest.
“The stakeholders were given a week to submit the names of the nominees for onward presentation to and consideration of the leader of the party, who will then forward the nominees to the State Assembly.
“The meeting commends the Executive Governor of Osun State and leader of the party, for his large heart and maturity with which he has been handling affairs of the State. The Governor was especially commended for his open approach in the appointment of the recently sworn-in Commissioners and Special Advisers, among several of his actions and policies.”
DAILY POST recalls that Soji Adagunodo, a former PDP Chairman in Osun was the former PDP South-West Zonal Chairman.
The office became vacant after his demise in 2022.
