Police Takes Fresh Action Against Officer Who Fired Gunshots To Celebrate Reopening Of Ladipo Market In Lagos

The Nigeria Police has taken fresh disciplinary action against one of its officers who fired gunshots to celebrate the reopening of Ladipo market in Lagos State.

It would be recalled that the man was captured in a viral online video, firing shots into the air to celebrate the reopening of the Ladipo market while onlookers cheered him on.

The Police in reaction promised to investigate the matter.

Taking to the micro-blogging site on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that the man has been identified as Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, serving with the Mobile Police (MOPOL).

He added that the officer has been brought in to face appropriate disciplinary measures.

He also shared a picture of the officer and the viral video in question.
