Five students of the Premiere Academy, Abuja, have been inducted into the newly-created National Anti-corruption Club being promoted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) as part of the renewed efforts of the Commission to tackle corruption from the roots.

The 30-member club, which was launched recently at the Commission’s Headquarters office situated at Central Area, Abuja, also has 25 other student members drawn from various schools in the FCT and environs.

In his keynote address at the event, Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, described the anti-corruption war as a fight to salvage the soul of the nation which requires “the systemic involvement of youths at all conceivable levels” to vanquish the menace “that threatens the foundational health and future well-being of our great country”.

The ICPC Czar noted that the youths, especially students, represent an important demography and hugely powerful army with great role to play in the current administration’s uncompromising stance against the national malaise that has kept the country from realizing its potentials.

While stating the Commission’s plan to extend the planting of the Anti-Corruption Club in other regions of the country soon, Dr. Adamu Aliyu charged the inductees to serve as good ambassadors of the Commission by decrying all forms of corruption and anti-social behaviours in their surroundings.

He also urged them to be relentless promoters of the best national values and ethics, adding that, in doing so, they would be contributing greatly to the patriotic efforts to enhance the country’s unstoppable march to positive rebirth.

The climax of the event was the presentation of banners and IEC materials to the inductees by the Commission’s Ag. Director PE & E, Mrs. Azuka Ogugua, fnipr, as well as the administration of membership oath by Bar. Umar Magaji Narimi, head of Legal Unit.

The event was attended by heads of various units in the Commission and sister agencies, with goodwill messages from the Directors of FCT Secondary Education Board and FCT Department of Science, Technology and Innovation.
