Proud dad LeBron James recreates viral flip phone picture watching son Bronny’s college debut

LeBron James is one proud dad.

On Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Lakers star’s son, Bronny James, made his eagerly-anticipated college basketball game debut when he checked into the game for the USC Trojans as they took on Long Beach State.

LeBron was in attendance at Galen Center and recreated his infamous flip phone photo from 2003.

Just a week into his now-illustrious NBA career, a rookie LeBron showed up to an episode of WWE’s Monday Night Raw.

James was sitting ringside, and took a picture of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin on his flip phone, which became an infamous meme years later.

20 years on, LeBron was spotted recording Bronny’s debut on a much more advanced phone, although it still reminded people of that famous photo.

Bronny’s future was thrown into doubt in July after he suffered a cardiac arrest during practice at Galen Center.

The 19-year-old was found to have a congenital heart defect that was treatable.

The young James was recently cleared by his doctors and USC’s medical staff to participate in full-contact practice where previously he had been limited to working out on his own doing weights, cardio and shooting.

Ahead of the game against Long Beach State, Trojans coach Andy Enfield said James would come off the bench and play under a minutes restriction.

“It’s just going to be a feel for how the game’s going, how he’s playing, how he feels physically,” Enfield said last week.

“[Sunday will] be very emotional for him as well as his teammates. But as the game progresses, I think he’ll settle in, and we’ll just play it half by half and see where he is.

James entered Sunday’s game early in the first quarter and received a standing ovation from the home crowd and an onlooking LeBron.

Numerous NBA stars also welcomed LeBron’s eldest son back to the court after his recent health scare.

“Welcome back Bronny,” Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant tweeted.

“Watching Bronny walk out on that court gave me chills… Welcome back to the game you love Bronny,” LeBron’s former Miami Heat teammate Dwayne Wade tweeted.

LeBron is coming off a victory in the championship game of the inaugural NBA’s In-Season Tournament against the Indiana Pacers, and couldn’t hide his excitement about Bronny making his debut this week.

“Super excited for that moment,” LeBron said. “I can’t wait to see him run out with his teammates. And then once he checks into the game, whenever that case may be, it’s going to be a big moment for our family.”
