PSG tried to 'steal' Real Madrid star, Florentino Perez reveals in interview

Speaking to El Chiringuito per MARCA, the president of Real Madrid revealed that the 21-year-old had received offers but that the Brazilian only considered staying at the Bernabeu.

According to him, of all the proposals, the most impressive and disproportionate came from PSG, although Florentino preferred to ‘save’ the name.

The Qatari-owned club are said to have offered a salary of 40 million euros net pay and a succulent transfer bonus to lure the 21-year-old to play alongside Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Perez revealed that, in fact, they – Real Madrid – were sure that the calls had already occurred summers ago. The message was always repeated, insistently asking the forward not to renew his contract.

PSG were said to have first, offered Vinicius an unattainable figure Real Madrid couldn’t match – as it would have disrupted their own high wage structure, and further informed the youngster that he would receive from 2024: 40 million euros as salary.

Talks also included promises of a generous transfer bonus and a number of business opportunities in Qatar, from where PSG was handling the matter.

Perez revealed that him, and Jose Angel Sanchez: the Real Madrid CEO, were aware of PSG’s conversations with Vinicius at all times.

Perez in the interview, revealed that PSG tried by all means to have a face-to-face meeting, but it never happened and the match in the second round of the Champions League did not help.

Eventually they had to back after they realized that Vinicius’s relationship with Real Madrid was too strong to break it. The last time they contacted 21-year-old was in March.

Perez also revealed that in recent months, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have also knocked on the door, all encountering the same response from Vinicius.
