Randy Waldrum Vows to Lead Super Falcons to Paris 2024 Olympics

In a bid to secure a spot at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum has expressed his unwavering determination.

Despite the nine-time African champions’ recent struggles in Olympic qualification, Waldrum remains resolute in his mission to guide the team to success.

The upcoming clash against arch-rivals, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, marks a pivotal moment in their journey.

“The goal obviously is to qualify for the Olympics. We can’t look ahead of ourselves and say this is what we want to achieve at the Olympics, “Waldrum told the Super Falcons media team.

“Qualification is going to be the primary goal. Everyone knows we have a difficult set of matches coming up against Cameroon.

“The focus is now on the two matches. Cameroon stopped us from going to the Olympics a few years back, I think in 2012. The two countries know each other very well.

“They have lots of talents and are very dangerous, especially their counter-attacking style of play.

“But I really like our squad, I like the team chemistry. We are able to get all our players back in for these matches which are very important.

“So, if we can put together the performances like we did at the last World Cup, then I fancy our chances.

“We just need to build on what we did at the World Cup and even do better. The difficult part in all these matches is that the window of time in the international break does not allow for a lot of training time.

“We will have to use our experience at the World Cup to win these games because we have few days to train.”

The first leg, set to unfold at the Stade de la Reunification, Douala, promises an intense showdown on Friday, with the return fixture scheduled at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, the following week.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will fly to Douala on Wednesday night.
