Ratcliffe eyes two EPL managers to replace Ten Hag at Man Utd

Manchester United’s new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is looking at the Premier League duo of Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton) and Thomas Frank (Brentford) as possible replacements for Erik ten Hag.

ESPN reports that Ratcliffe is also considering England boss, Gareth Southgate, should Ten Hag leave the role in the summer.

It is understood that no decision has been made on Ten Hag’s future, but the credentials and availability of possible replacements are being scrutinized.

Ratcliffe’s Ineos group now controls football operations at Old Trafford, following their purchase of a 27.7% stake in the club last month.

Ineos are taking first steps ahead of a summer when Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona will be hiring a new manager.

Ten Hag arrived from Ajax in June 2022 on a three-year contract with United holding the option of an additional 12 months, although he is under pressure to save his job with Ratcliffe, the club’s new minority owner, saying last month that qualification for next season’s Champions League is “important for [financial fair play]” in terms of United complying with FFP and profit and sustainability regulations.
