The Niger State Government has disclosed that the reconstruction, upgrading and dualization of the Minna-Bida road project will not only reduce the suffering of motorists plying the road but also ensure the prompt movement of agricultural produce within and outside the state.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the 82km road project has been scheduled for April 2, 2024.
The state government made this known in a statement signed by Chairman, New Niger Development Project, Abubakar Mustapha Bida, in Minna.
He explained that the Minna-Bida Road is a major economic corridor and, when completed, is expected to boost the industrialization of the state, as it will eventually become the longest dual carriageway in the state.
According to him, “Work on the Minna-Bida Road has received a boost as the pre-qualified and shortlisted companies submitted their financial bids for the 82km project at the New Niger Office, Minna, which include Triacta Nigeria Limited, CGC Nigeria Limited, and Arab Contractors, respectively. All the due processes have been completed.”
Mustapha Bida said a total of 11 companies submitted their interest. The opening was conducted on March 14, 2023, as indicated in the specific procurement notice and the bid data sheet, in the presence of applicants who chose to attend.
“Consequently, after the evaluation processes, following all standard procedures, five companies were issued with no objection report.
“The five companies were invited to submit their financial bids on January 30, 2024, followed by the opening of financial bids at the New Niger Office.
“However, three companies met up with the time of submission and are expected to receive their award letters on April 1, 2024, before the official contract signing, while the remaining two companies were unable to meet up with the time,” the statement stated.
