REVEALED: Chelsea flops headed to a Mayfair party restaurant and nightclub, straight from their Everton humiliation, with Mauricio Pochettino allowing captain Reece James to lead ‘team bonding’

Chelsea’s stars reportedly held a Christmas night out just hours after their defeat to Everton in a bid to boost team spirit and morale. 

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were second-best during their trip to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon and lost the match 2-0 after goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin. 

The defeat was the seventh of the Premier League campaign for the Blues, as they’ve continued to struggle throughout the calendar year. 

In response to this, according to The Telegraph, captain Reece James gathered Chelsea’s players for ‘Christmas bonding session’ just hours after the loss. 

The outlet claim that James had organised the night out prior to the match but it was thrown into jeopardy after the full-back got injured during the Everton clash.

Afterwards, they made their way to the nightclub Tape (Credit: Instagram @mfnights)

However, the night out went ahead after the players returned to London and headed straight to the Bagatelle restaurant in Mayfair before moving on to Tape nightclub. 

Attending Bagatelle, according to their website, ‘is like being invited in the home and to the table of an epicurean bon vivant from the French Riviera’.

Main courses at the restaurant can range from anywhere between £30-£115 – with a wide variety of chicken and fish dishes available. 

Meanwhile, Tape – located in Oxford Circus – is a regular spot for footballers, musicians and other notable faces to attend for a night out in London. 

The venue run an event labelled ‘Tape Sundays’, which the Blues stars would’ve been sure to enjoy. 

The outlet also claim that Pochettino gave his blessing for the evening to go ahead and did not feel the need to cancel it following their disappointing result.

The night out had originally been scheduled as a Christmas celebration, however, the evening changed into a much-needed bonding session following the defeat.

James was forced off in the defeat to Everton with a hamstring problem, but that did not stop him retaining responsibility for Sunday’s night out 

The Blues’ expensively assembled squad were blasted for a lack of leadership following their 2-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday.

Speaking on his The Obi Wan podcast, two-time Premier League title winner John Obi Mikel claimed the Blues were lacking leadership compared to his time at the club, when John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba set standards.

‘There is no identity of how the team want to play. I am a big believer in giving a manager time, I am not a believer in sacking managers left, right and centre,’ Mikel said.

‘Are we just going to sit on the fence and say we are still in a rebuilding process.

‘There is no time for that. We need to start winning games. When I look at at the team, it comes down to a lack of leaders.

‘In the game against Everton, I looked around the pitch, there is not one single leader.

‘There is no-one to come out on the pitch to go at your colleagues and say, ‘Wake up, what are you doing?’, come to you and scream at you – this is what we had before’.
