Snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan will no longer be participating in this week’s Champion of Champions event.
The 47-year-old has pulled out of the tournament to look after his mental health.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, O’Sullivan wrote: “Hi guys, just wanted to let you know I’m unfortunately withdrawing from the Champions of Champions event tomorrow.
“Mentally I feel a bit drained and stressed and I want to look after my mental health and my body. I’m sorry to all the fans but I’ll be back stronger.”
The seven-time world champion played in China just last week as he made the semi-finals of the International Championship.
He was set to face Zhang Anda in Bolton on Wednesday, but now Ding Junhui is now set to replace him.
O’Sullivan has withdrawn from events on three other occasions this season.
As well as struggling with an elbow injury, he’s also stated he would play less UK-based tournaments.
He is, however, expected to make his return at the UK Championship, which begins on November 25 in York.
O’Sullivan had won this week’s competition a record four times, beating Judd Trump 10-6 in last year’s final.
