Scotland: Dessers gets teammate’s backing to score more goals for Rangers

Rangers forward Abdallah Sima has expressed joy after his teammate Cyriel Dessers ended his goal drought.

Dessers lost his place in the starting line-up under previous manager, Michael Beale after struggling in front of goal.

The 28-year-old was handed a fresh start by new helmsman, Philippe Clement against Hibernian at the Ibrox on Saturday.

The Nigerian repaid his manager’s faith by scoring Rangers’ fourth goal in the 4-0 rout of the Hibs.

Sima was delighted to see Dessers on the scoresheet again and vowed to keep supporting the former Cremonese player.

“But Cyriel was very happy to score and we were very happy for him also. For a striker, it is important to score. For him, it has been hard because he had not managed to score for a few games. So we are all happy that he has scored again,” he told Football Scotland.

“He is someone who works really hard for the team. In life, sometimes there are hard moments. But even in those moments, he has worked so hard and has remained positive.

“For me, I am happy with my goals, but I am just as happy for the other guys to score and it was great that Cyriel got his goal to help us. We will keep helping him to score again.”
