Serie A: Juventus star Weston McKennie’s dad hits out at Leeds United fans: It’s time to let go

The father of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has taken aim at the fans who have been very critical of his son this year.

2023 was not the best year for McKennie as he started it by being sent out on loan to Leeds United.

The move did not work out, as Leeds still ended up being relegated and the local fans really did not take kindly to the American midfielder who they felt was not good enough and overweight.

John McKennie took to X on Saturday night and decided to have a pop at the fans who still seem to target McKennie, even though he is back at Juventus in Serie A.

“Even on Wes‘s worst day he is in better physical shape than those who call him overweight! You only wish you had his physicality. It’s time to let go of the Leeds drama and move on! I am proud of him not paying any attention to the negative comments out here,” John McKennie wrote.

Fans of the USMNT player were quick to back McKennie up and sing his praises, claiming that he is a very underrated player.

“Great example of how to handle yourself when it comes to taking unfounded criticism. Many professional athletes (and people in general) could benefit from following his lead on ignoring the garbage, putting your had down, and working hard,” one user replied.

“Louder for those in the back,” wrote another.

“Tell them Mr.McKennie!!! There’s a good amount of us who appreciate Weston,” a third declared.
