The tragic incident in north Delhi’s Burari area, where two Nigerians lost their lives under mysterious circumstances, has left the community in shock. According to reports from the police, the victims were burnt beyond recognition due to an explosion that occurred while they were allegedly making drug paraphernalia in their rented apartment.

The explosion occurred when a chemical was added to the drug mixture, resulting in a fire that engulfed the house. One of the victims has been identified as Christian Ifeanyichukwu, while the identity of the other deceased individual remains unknown.

Investigations by the police revealed that the victims, along with two women identified as Kristen and Kambri, had been living in the rented apartment since February 10, 2024. However, it was discovered that the visas of Kristen and Kambri had expired in December the previous year.

The victims were admitted to AIIMS by a group of individuals claiming to be their friends on February 23. However, these friends fled after leaving the victims at the hospital.

Further investigation revealed that the owner of the rented house, identified as Nafees, had provided the accommodation through a Nigerian acquaintance. The police have registered a case of negligent death and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

Additionally, the police are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident and have informed the Nigerian Embassy about the situation. The bodies of the victims have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
