Sit-at-home: Employ diplomatic means – Activist, Obiora Omeje advises Gov Mbah

A human rights activist, Mr Obiora Omeje has urged Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State to employ diplomatic means in his bid to end the perennial Monday sit-at-home.

DAILY POST reports that Mbah had upon assumption of office ordered that all offices and businesses be opened for activities on Mondays.

In a statement on Wednesday, Omeje said executive fiat would not be enough to end sit-at-home.

While noting that it may endanger the lives of residents, Omeje, who is a member of Abuja School of Socio-Political Thought, as well as Center for Liberty International, said Mbah should galvanize Igbo leaders towards the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

He said, “Governor Mbah should be a hero and make history by reaching out to prominent Igbo leaders, Ohanaeze, clergymen, governors to interface on how to release Mazi Nnamudi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

“I have no doubt that President Bola Tinubu will listen to them and order the release of Kanu.”

Omeje added that Mbah should first “win the masses by providing basic amenities.”

“I commend past administration of the former governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the relative peace we are enjoying today. He was careful and diplomatic in handling IPOB issues.

“No matter the amount of money we are loosing to sit-at-home, it does not worth the blood of Ndi Enugu. Security of life and property of citizens is the fundamental responsibility of the Governor as the Chief Security officer,” he added.
