SportMinister John Owan Enoh Stands With Alex Iwobi Against Cyberbullying

After leading the Super Eagles of Nigeria back home following the final AFCON 2023 match, where Nigeria clinched the Silver medal,

Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, addressed the issue of cyberbullying targeting midfielder Alex Iwobi.

Expressing concern over the social media attacks, Senator Enoh stated, “As a ministry, this isn’t the first time we are making a statement against bullying,

not just for you but for all our sportsmen and women who are exposed to such treatment due to the outcome of competitions. We are concerned about how our sportsmen and women are treated.”

Following a barrage of unpleasant remarks, Iwobi confirmed his decision to step away from social media after the final game.

In response, Senator John Owan Enoh offered words of encouragement, emphasizing, “You did your best for your country, and I am proud of you. The leadership and the rest of the country are proud of you.”

Acknowledging Iwobi’s contribution to the team’s success, Senator Enoh highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s achievement, stating, “You put in your best, thank you very much.”

The Minister strongly condemned any form of bullying or harm directed at Nigerian athletes, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring their well-being.

The conversation ended on a reassuring note, with Senator Enoh standing firmly in support of Iwobi and all Nigerian athletes against cyberbullying.
