Super Eagles Olisa Ndah, Orlando Pirates arrives Uyo for Confederations Cup final

Ndah had a breakout season in Nigeria in 2020/21, winning the league title and breaking into the Super Eagles’ lineup before signing with the Soweto giants in the off-season.

As Pirates progressed to the final, Ndah emerged as a key player in the Buccaneers’ backline, commanding performances both at home and on the continent.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s final, Davids has now turned to the Nigerian public to canvass for support for the 1995 CAF Champions League winners.

Before leaving for Uyo: the host city of the final, David spoke during an official media briefing, stating that they were excited to play Morocco’s RS Berkane.

“I think we’re quite happy over the neutral venue of course if the final was in Morocco it would be a different story but we’re quite happy.

“I urge the Nigerian fans to come and support us, their prodigal son returns to the Stadium, Ndah, we’re playing at the Akwa Stadium where he won the league before he joined Pirates.

We hope the Nigerians will get behind us in this stadium and we have the extra 12th man in the stadium, so the neutral venue could become our home ground, we’re quite happy,” the interim manager concluded.

On Friday evening at 8 pm Nigerian time, Pirates will face RS Berkane at the Godswil Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.

It will be the first time in 13-years, that a Nigerian city and stadium will host either the final of the Confederations Cup or the Champions League after Heartland hosted the second leg of the latter in 2009.

It could end up being a Cinderella scenario for Ndah as he returns to the stadium that gave his career a boost, and could collect another major title when the Buccaneers take on Confederation Cup champions RS Berkane.
