Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum Praises Team’s Effort in Olympics Qualifier

Randy Waldrum, the coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance after they advanced to the next round of the Olympics qualifiers against Cameroon in Abuja.

While acknowledging a few concerns and players not being at their best, Waldrum commended the overall effort put in by the players.

“I’m ecstatic. I couldn’t be more excited for the players and for the country as well,” Waldrum said in his post-match remarks.

“I thought it was a great effort today. We picked up some injuries that we had to make some changes, and the players that came in did a great job.”

Waldrum highlighted the importance of every player contributing to the team’s success. “That’s what you want. You want your players that come off the side to give you something,” he emphasized.

“I thought Deborah was fantastic in midfield, ball-winning, and matching the physicality of the team.”

Despite the victory, Waldrum acknowledged that the team still had room for improvement. “I thought we weren’t at our best,” he admitted.

“We had times when we moved the ball well and could go through them easily. Our chances were created when our ball movement was good.

When we lost our patience and played a little bit more direct, I think that’s not the way we want to play.”

In matches like these, where the stakes are high and the margin for error is slim, Waldrum emphasized the importance of securing the result.

“In these kinds of performances that are a one-off knockout type match, you just have to work to get the result and do what you need to do,” he explained. “So, I’m extremely, extremely proud of the team.”

Waldrum’s comments reflect his confidence in the team’s ability to learn and grow from each match as they continue their journey in the Olympic qualifiers.

With their determination and commitment, the Super Falcons aim to make Nigeria proud on the international stage.
