Super Falcons’ Rasheedat Ajibade Says Living In Nigeria Improved Her Adaptability

Super Falcons forward, Rasheedat Ajibade has attributed her strong mentality to the opportunity of being brought up in Nigeria.

Rasheedat Ajibade started her football career in Nigeria and landed her first professional career at a Nigerian women’s football club FC Robo in 2013.

Ajibade moved to Europe by joining a Norwegian club, Avaldnes in 2018, and in 2021, she made her big move to Spanish La Liga side Atlético Madrid.

Since she arrived in Spain, the 23-year-old Super Falcons forward has played 54 league games and scored 16 goals.

From being a benchwarmer at the national team in which she made her debut in 2018, she has become a regular starter even in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

Rasheedat Ajibade featured in all four games of the Nigerian team at the Women’s World Cup as she helped the team finish in the round of 16.

“Even when things are not going in your direction, you just have to learn to adapt,” a German outlet, Make for Minds, quoted her as saying.

“Mentally, Africans have been built that way. Because of the mental strength that I’ve built, from growing up in Nigeria, and all the things I’ve gone through, I was able to do that.”

On her journey with the Super Falcons, Ajibade added, “Every time I have the opportunity to play for my nation, it’s a privilege that I will never take for granted.

“I always feel honoured because we have millions of players out there that could potentially be on the team. I’m so grateful for the dedication and commitment I’ve put in so far to get me to this level.”
