Team 9ja AAG Update: Josephine Esuku Shines With Silver, Bronze in Taekwondo At African Games

Josephine Esuku demonstrated her prowess in taekwondo by clinching a silver medal in the individual U40 category and a bronze in the freestyle category of the Poomsea competition at the African Games.

Despite questions surrounding officiating, Esuku finished strong with an impressive performance.

Reflecting on her performance in the individual U40 category in an interview with Sports 247, Esuku expressed satisfaction with her efforts: “I did well, the expression of energy, the tempo, the relaxing part, everything was good. I lost by 0.5 points. I think I performed well today; I am quite impressed with my performance.”

Sharing her experience at the African Games, Esuku commended the introduction of new events like the poomsea event in taekwondo.

She highlighted the significance of participating in the African Games poomsea event for the first time, emphasizing its positive impact on her overall experience.

Looking ahead, Esuku conveyed her determination to continue representing Nigeria with excellence: “I have one more event, and I intend to win gold. I genuinely love to fly the Nigerian flag, so I’ll definitely give my best.”
