Transfer: Arsenal identify player to sign as Ivan Toney alternative

Arsenal are considering Bologna attacker, Joshua Zirkzee as a potential alternative to Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta is keen to add another striker to his squad this month with both Toney and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen already on the club’s shortlist.

However, Financial Fair Play (FFP) concerns will restrict Arsenal’s spending power during this ongoing January transfer window.

This means the North London club may need to target cheaper alternatives.

According to The Telegraph, Zirkzee is on Arsenal’s radar and Arteta’s side have been closely monitoring the player’s progress in Serie A.

The report added that Bologna would hold out for a £50million fee for the 22-year-old, who is also linked to Arsenal’s Premier League rival, Manchester United.

Zirkzee, who has scored seven Serie A goals this season, joined Bologna in a £10million deal from Bayern Munich in 2022.
